ISSUE WITH SOME DRIVEKEY STOCK (2009-03)
The issue is basically that original game discs will not play, whereas backups (copies) play perfectly.
DriveKeys with a 'W3' diode (next to the two LEDs) will exhibit the above mentioned problem (originals not working) when installed in a Wii which has a silver drive cable. Currently, most of the DriveKeys that have been shipped with the W3 diode can easily be identified by the fact that they have black flip-up connectors and a small-sized oscillator.
However, there is also DriveKey stock in circulation that has these attributes but the
correct X4 diode. Therefore, a visual inspection of the diode is recommended.
Contrary to what some people have posted in the forums, this issue is NOT being caused by the black flip-up connectors, nor the smaller-sized oscillator!
